What is Orangescale's favorite blogging platform?

by Thomas Arie Setiawan — December 12, 2007

A-not-easy-to-answer question. Seriously. But, if we have to answer that question, there are two blogging platforms come to our mind: WordPress and Movable Type. Not only because those are our favorite platforms, but also those are platforms we're familiar with.

Having those platform in our top list does not mean that we learn about other alternative platforms. For example, you can see how we work with Textpattern. What about Expression Engine? Once we created a theme for Expression Engine called Butterfly Theme. And also the language pack.

How we work with WordPress? If you want to see how we deal with WordPress, you can see some sample sites we made. Just visit Fashionese Daily, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, Asia Blogging Network, my WP-powered personal journal, and also Jogja Self Guide. They're all built using WordPress. Right now, we're working on some other projects using WordPress. Hey, let's not forget Lala's blog. She made the design herself from scratch.

For our sample works using Movable Type, you can see my personal journal and also this Orangescale.COM website.

We -- of course -- understand that every people has his/her favorite tools. When people asked us about what blogging platform should be used, we will not directly giving straight answer. First, we will ask what they need for their site especially features. At the end, after giving some hints, we will let them choose. Here, we define the word "best platform" as "the platform that really works for them".
