In 2007, I had my friend Hanifa contacted me to help her with (at that time) her personal site called Fashionese Daily. At that time, I haven’t known who she was. One thing I knew was that she had a blog and she wanted to move it into something different. It was using Blogspot service. [...]
Here’s an illustration: You learn about web technologies like design, content management systems, social media. At the same time, you also study some of those subjects deeper. It makes you understand and sometime you can make a small prediction about what will happen next if you use certain strategies (in one of those technologies). You help [...]
When I have someone who wanted to ask our service and it’s related to web design (blog, sites, etc), we don’t just start the work right away. I usually spend my times and steal client’s time to have some discussion about the project. Usually, I ask few things: What kind of website you want to have, [...]
I’m not sure when this problem firstly noted. I just found it today. I don’t have a personal account at MediaTemple’s (gs), but I do maintain an account — with some sites installed under it. MediaTemple reported: Starting Nov 6, 2009, we noticed many customers reporting a new php injection exploit. If you feel that your sites [...]
Last month, I bought a new domain. Unlike my other domains, this time I have domain with my own name: thomasarie.com. When I firstly registered it, I didn’t have any intention to create another blog. I already have too many. My plan was to create a lifestream. The term lifestream was coined by Eric Freeman and [...]
Today, I received an email from Sony Ericsson. The email invites me to participate on a survey. Since I was free at that time, and I was a litle bit bored, I decided to take the survey. If the survey was boring, I can stop at any time, right? Dear Thomas Arie, What matters to you matters [...]
In the last few days, I was a busy updating a site for a big event in Jogjakarta. The event called “Jogja Wall Nation”. It’s a mural competition. This event took place in the city of Jogjakarta. Last month, I had my friend from the event organizer contacted me. He asked me about the idea [...]
Last month, I joined a meeting to discuss a project. No, it’s not related to website/design directly. In the meeting, the word “popularity” came into discussion and there was a statement more or less like this: If you search {put word here} using Google, there are many search results about the keyword. We can see/learn the [...]
Last September, we made an experiment to use Amazon S3 service with CloudFront. The idea was to distribute the contents of my client's site to reduce the server load. We heard many positive comments about Amazon AWS, and we decided to try it.
Right now, we're working on a gallery album site. Our client wants to have a photo gallery for her site. There are many great gallery scripts like Gallery Menalto, 4Images, and Coopermine. Every software has its own great features. After having discussion with our client, we decided not to use one of those options. We choose WordPress.
I don't know when Bank Mandiri rolled out its new website design, but the current site is great! I love it. Clean, well-organized, more structured. Compared to other local bank website, I think Bank Mandiri is on the top position -- related to design.
I just realized that it's almost a year since we subscribed to Flickr Pro account. I looked up our Flickr account, and see some numbers. Here's some statistics.
Right now, I tried to create video contents for videoblogging. I have uploaded some videos at my videoblogging blog. I'm still finding the best video sharing providers out there. I know there are many, but I use Vimeo as my primary video storage. I'm curious about the video results after being uploaded.
First of all, we would like to say Happy Belated New Year 2009! In the last few months, we're very busy with many works. We're still now. Allow me to greet all of you, our valuable blog readers, clients and friend. How are you all? Hope you have a great year!
Last week, we were mentioning about our MOO mini card delivery status here in our blog. The next day, we got a letter from MOO Staff (Daniel Morrow). I’ve just seen your posting on orangescale and wanted to apologize for the delay with your cards. Recently we have discovered that it is taking about 6 weeks [...]
First, we're helping Hanzky -- hey, congratulation for the new baby! -- upgrading the server and also the forum. All processes were done without major problems. After having a discussion, Fashionese Daily came into decision to upgrade the server. It has more RAM now. After the upgrades, the website (especially the forum) run smoothly even on peak hours. Anyway, according to vBulletin forum statistics, there were 541 online users.
Our Flickr account is about to reach its limit. Right, we're still using the free version. So far, we love it! I mean, we love the service, but we have the limit. ;) Of course, upgrading will be an option later.
Jumping into internet brought many changes in our life, including "payment experience". When we joined the crowd, running a small business and service, we -- like or not -- must deal with various payment methods.
A-not-easy-to-answer question. Seriuosly. But, if we have to answer that question, there are two blogging platforms come to our mind: WordPress and Movable Type. Not only because those are our favorite platforms, but also those are platforms we're familiar with.
