Building video-based content site using WordPress

Previously, I talked a little bit about i-teve. Now, allow me to share a little bit more about some technical stuff. I already mentioned that we decided to use WordPress. The first reason was that because everything — in this case, i-teve — can be accomodated by WordPress. Most WordPress’ default features are already there.

The main contents will be videos. I’ve been doing this — using WordPress to handle video contents — for my videoblog at orangebox.tv. So far, everything works without any problems. Yes, I need some plugins to get what I really need for the websites. But, I do not use many plugins.

To embed videos, I decided not to use plugins. There are some useful plugins for this purposes. But, since we have a different approach in how we embed the video, this plugin might not be what we really need. The good thing is that HTML code to embed the videos can be placed inside the content area, and parsed as the way it is.

IF you ask me what plugins I can’t live without to build both video sites (orangebox.tv and i-teve), here they are:

That’s the most essential plugins I need. Of course, there are some other plugins installed. But, even without the additional plugins, everything should work. The additional plugins do not really related to the video contents, but it help me to have a better contents/elements management.
